SCHOOL TOURS
REAL CONVERSATIONS ABOUT SELF-WORTH AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Loodor produces school tours to address mental health, social media, and what connection means in a modern world.
As social media use among teens has risen to 95%, so have reports of anxiety, depression, and suicide. The second leading cause of death among adolescents is self-harm/suicide.
Through general assembly presentations, author Summer Nilsson uses books from the Loodor Tales Series to engage students in discussions regarding comments, cyberbullying, and the power of words.
Summer also shares her own experiences with social anxiety and imposter syndrome, as well as her background with a 25-year career in media, marketing, publishing, and storytelling.
"We all seek connection, but what does it mean to SEEK? Through school tours and curriculum, we shape discussions regarding Self-worth, Existence, Empathy, and Kindness. Students must understand the long-term ramifications of their digital footprint. Inspired by the HOO Game in The Land of the Pines, we use characters from the book series to pose the question, 'HOO Are You?'" - Summer Nilsson
